It reminds me of that line in "Grey's Anatomy" (not sure if you watch it) There was a patient that had no pain reflex, and one of the docs said "everyone's always trying to avoid pain, they don't realize it's there for a reason..." (or something along those lines) Then someone had one of those "I get it" moments. Kind a made me think too.
One can only try to kick the ball so many times before they realize what's going on.
